“Whilst out meeting customers, I've been able to see, first-hand, how our products are being used in key markets, which is really exciting! With MBA Polymers UK's focus on sustainability and keeping plastics out of landfill, it’s great to be able to support business needs at the same time as creating a circular economy.”
Melanie joins MBA Polymers UK with a wealth of experience in account management, most recently in the manufacturing industry where she worked for over seven years. Melanie says: “The opportunity to work at MBA Polymers UK stood out and appealed to me! I really enjoy being in nature and going for walks in the countryside with my two children, where I teach them about the importance of protecting the environment and doing our bit to save the planet. I try to instill a sense of pride and respect for the natural world, so MBA Polymers UK's reputation in the recycling industry - and what it can produce from plastic waste - felt like a really good fit for me.”
MBA Polymers UK, part of EMR, a global leader in sustainable materials, uses innovative technology to turn plastic from EMR’s shredder residue into valuable and sought-after polymers. Based at their flagship site in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, Melanie’s role involves taking care of the company’s customers. She’s responsible for selling MBA Polymers UK’s range of high quality recycled polymers to customers across the UK and Europe, whilst generating new opportunities for the business with new customers. This also includes working with the new ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) product, which contains a ground-breaking 95%+ post-consumer recycled content:
“ABS is a pioneering new product which offers a sustainable plastic alternative, without compromising on quality. It has an 86% lower carbon footprint than its virgin equivalents. I’m looking forward to sharing this material and other forward-thinking developments with our customers, existing and new. I have always enjoyed building relationships with clients and getting to know them. My role at MBA Polymers UK is to understand their product needs and establish the technical requirements. From initial enquiry right through to delivery, I am their single point of contact. I pride myself on always being open and honest in my approach to delivering projects, ensuring I meet and exceed customer expectations.”
The Account Manager role that Melanie has filled, is due to the retirement of a valued team member Neil Quinn. Neil has been with the company for more than 10 years and offers a wealth of experience and Melanie is very grateful to him for a personal introduction to MBA Polymers UK's customers:
“MBA Polymers UK has long-serving employees, which demonstrates the loyalty that employees have to the company. My counterpart, Kelly Speed, has been with MBA Polymers UK for a decade and I can envisage my long-term future here as well.
"I’ve been very fortunate to be able to spend time with Neil before he finishes up, discovering more about our customers and processes. I have also already learnt so much from our fantastic technical team and I’m excited to continue expanding on that knowledge. Working from our flagship Worksop site also provides me with direct access to the factory, which is great!
“I feel like I’m joining MBA Polymers UK at a really important time, in terms of the future for both the company and the industry. As a world-leading plastic recycler, we are at the forefront of innovation and technology, and with consumer demand and ever-increasing changes in legislation, you have to constantly adapt and develop new products. I find this really exciting and I’m looking forward to playing a part in a more sustainable future.”
